can you help me with my math homework? (tenth grade) geometry?

h(t)= -16t^2 +112t
convert formula to vertex form and give:
domain, range, vertex, max/min, x-intercepts.

Last season the volleyball team played in an invitational tournament held at the Emory university. during the tournament, each invited team played one match against each other participating team. In volleyball, the first tean to win three games, or sets, wins a match. At this tournament every match required five sets to determine the winner.
-write a formula that expresses the total number of sets as a function of the total numbber of teams in the tournament.
-if there were a total of 140 sets played during the tournament, how many teams participated?

thanks you guys (:

wow, so many questions in a question, I’ll try my best to go through one by one.

Converting to vertex form (using the formula from the reference) where a= -16, b=112, c=0 gives
h(t) = -16(x – 7/2) + 196

x-intersects: -16x^2 +112x = x( -16x + 112), So, x= 0 and x= 112/16 = 7.
domain: all possible real numbers.
max/min: a= -16 so the function is a maximum.
vertex: (7/2, 196).
range: [196, -infinity)

x= number of teams
The number of matches between each team is x choose 2
So, the formula to express the total number of sets f(x) = (x choose 2) * 5 = (x! * 5) / 2!(x – 2)!

For 140 sets,
f(x) = (x choose 2) * 5 = (x! * 5) / 2!(x – 2)! = 140
x choose 2 = 140/5 = 28
x = 8

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 1961 Monaco Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on May 14, 1961 on the Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo, Monaco. It was the inaugural race of the 1961 Formula One season, and the first World Championship race under the new 1.5 litre engine regulations. The erratic yearly variations in Monaco’s qualifying regulations saw grid places guaranteed for works teams and past winners in 1961. Therefore the five works teams were awarded two places each on the grid, and Stirling Moss and Maurice Trintignant qualified as the past winners. Leaving nine drivers to fight over four places, a fifth place opened up when Innes Ireland crashed during the final practice session, breaking his leg. Stirling Moss took pole position from Richie Ginther and Jim Clark, with Graham Hill and Phil Hill on the second row.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 1988 Brazilian Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on April 3, 1988 at the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet, Rio de Janeiro. It was the first race of the 1988 Formula One season. Winter testing had indicated Ferrari would be maintaining the edge that they had gained at the end of the 1987 season, with McLaren and Williams also producing cars that looked like potential race winners. During the qualifying session there was controversy when Nelson Piquet made comments in the local media publicly insulting Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, their wives and families. Mansell produced a sensational performance to qualify 2nd, just five months after his crash at the 1987 Japanese Grand Prix. The pole was Senna in his first drive for the McLaren team; the second row was occupied by Gerhard Berger’s Ferrari and Piquet’s Lotus. On the parade lap, Senna’s gear selector mechanism broke and he had to complete the lap jammed in first gear. The first start was aborted and Senna started from the spare car in the pits. At the second start, Alain Prost led from the first lap, with Mansell in 2nd place.
